A SERIES OF THREE: YELLOW, RED, BLUE. This series of three works depicts different parts of a womans body. Each image is presented in the genre of exotica or erotic dancing. Each piece is untitled: #1, #2, and #3 to play with the concept that these woman are merely numbers, dehumanized, just body parts for the viewing pleasure of others. Each piece is bold, colourful, popart; almost a cartoonish likeness. This leads to the idea that these are only body parts, not complete people or individuals. The mixed media within the body scape of the women was designed using the adult want ad section in a local newspaper. This addition to the work reinforces the obsessive drive in our society to marginalize woman into sexual objects with cerebal of emotional essence.
I began this process thinking, "When she was a little girl of two taking dance lessons, is that what she hadin mind?" I hope this work, while appearing light and colourful, will stimulate thought and conversation about the way women's bodies are ceaselessly used to for pleasure, the selling of commodities, and the inherent danger posed for then women and young girls today.
YELLOW: Emotion of Optiism
